Laws that oversee the growth and advancement of technology and the internet are generally complex in nature and come from a variety of sources. Internet law is difficult to understand because it is constantly evolving as internet use does. Internet law constantly faces questions about consumer protection, internet censorship, intellectual property, and how to establish and defend internet property rights over websites or domain names. Almost every aspect of modern life is accessible over the internet; thus, almost every area of law must be adapted to include internet transactions, interactions, and offenses. An internet attorney will typically focus on helping a client who desires to use the internet to build a website or promote a business by establishing a protected domain name, designing a website that doesn't violate copyright laws, be wary of any government censorship regulations that apply to website content, be sensitive to privacy law for internet information, and be aware of any aspects of internet law that could influence the design and use of the client's website.
