There's a lot of information circulating about Iovate Health Science's recent recall of Hydroxycut. What is Hydroxycut?
Hydroxycut is the brand name of weight loss products which are taken by millions of consumers each year. Hydroxycut products are made by Iovate Health Sciences, which sells over 750 items in more than 70 countries world wide. It is primarily used by dieters and bodybuilders and, while advertised as being all natural, the products' formula of caffeine and herbal supplements that has caused serious injuries to many consumers.

The following 14 products are covered by the voluntary recall:
- Hydroxycut 24
- Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
- Hydroxycut Carb Control
- Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
- Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Capsules
- Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
- Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
- Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed
- Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Max Liquid Capsules
- Hydroxycut Natural
- Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets
- Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets
Why are they being recalled?
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has received reports of at least one death and numerous serious health problems concerning the metabolic booster drugs such as:
- cardiovascular disorders
- elevated liver enzymes
- jaundice
- excessive fatigue
- itching
- liver damage
- loss of appetite
- nausea
- rhabdomyolysis (a type of muscle damage that may lead to kidney failure)
- seizures
- stomach pain
- vomiting, light-colored stools
- weakness
What should you do if you've taken them?
According to the FDA, you should stop using these products. In addition, users should consult with their doctors to see what tests, if any, can be done to determine whether any damage has been done.
