Article: Hiring the Right SUV Rollover Accident Attorney

Free Case Evaluation

Injuries and damages that result from SUV, or sport utility vehicle, accidents can be severe. SUV litigation is very specialized and hiring an attorney whose practice focuses on SUV rollovers can save you time, money and a lot of hassle.

Specialized law

Rick Morrison, an Alabama attorney, represents clients who have been injured in SUV rollover and auto safety cases. We asked him to provide guidance to consumers on how to hire the right attorney. He told us, “Contrary to what many consumers believe, you do not need to hire an attorney in your own state. Lawyers who do this type of work pursue cases across the country. I currently have 12 different cases in 12 different states. It’s a specialized area of litigation and one pursued by experienced lawyers throughout the country. So you need to find a lawyer whose practice focuses on this type of litigation.”

Why experience matters

SUV litigation can be extremely complex. Knowing an attorney’s track record is a must according to Morrison. He explained, “I think that’s the most important thing to find out before you hire a lawyer in this type of case. Make sure that they have experience dealing with the manufactures. General Motors is going to hire lawyers across the country that deal with one, specific defect.”

“I’ve got a case that I have filed in North Alabama and the defense lawyer’s out of Phoenix, Arizona. That lawyer deals with one specific defect with Blazers. It’s a problem with the seatbelt. So, it’s not as important to have a lawyer in the state where you live as it is to have the right lawyer for the case – regardless of location. The internet is a good place to start when searching for an attorney.

Costs involved

Victims of an SUV rollover accident may be able to file a lawsuit without having to pay for up front costs. Morrison continued, “If you contact me or this firm, we work on a contingency basis, so we do not charge a fee or expenses unless we collect for you. So there’s no initial cost for us to investigate the case. There’s no initial cost for us to file the case. There’s no initial cost for us to pursue the case. It is only unless we collect for you, the consumer, against Ford, General Motors or another manufacture, that you’ll ever have to pay a fee or expenses.”

If you’ve been injured in an SUV that has rolled over, contact an attorney whose practice focuses in this area of the law and who understands the differences between the various makes and models of SUVs and their safety records. To contact an experienced attorney near you, please click here.
