TJ Power Sports has issued a voluntary recall of 400 of its Twister Hammerhead Dune Buggies due to a defect that may cause the seat belt to break and result in riders being ejected from the vehicle. The company has already received reports of a serious injury.
Details of the recall
TJ Power Sports LLC, located in Irving Texas, has voluntarily recalled 400 of its Twister Hammerhead Dune Buggies with the model number UM150IIR that were manufactured in 2004. At the present time, the company has received one report of a seat belt breaking that resulted in nerve damage to the rider’s right arm.
According to the recall, which was instituted in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the vehicles were sold nationwide by dealers and online from July 2004 through December 2004 for approximately $3,000 in red, blue or green.
The logo “Twister Hammerhead” is printed on the vehicle and the model number and year are imprinted on the bar behind the driver and passenger seats. The company and the CPSC warn consumers that they should stop using the vehicles immediately and contact TJ Power Sports for instructions on how to receive a replacement seat belt.
