Attorney Profile About the Attorney :Jennifer W. Levy-Tatum graduated cum laude from Widener University School of Law in 1997. Thereafter, she joined the law firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP in Philadelphia where she practiced general real estate law for two years. She has managed her private law practice in West Chester, Pennsylvania since June 1, 1999. She has represented non-profit organizations; for profit organizations; business owners; landowners; buyers and sellers; landlords and tenants; and homeowners in various real estate and probate matters. She has also represented plaintiffs and defendants before judges, arbitrators and taxing authorities in ten different counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A native of Jamaica, Ms. Levy-Tatum graduated with Honors from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. After obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Education, with distinction in the theory and practice of Education, she taught Spanish as a foreign language and English for Spanish speakers in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands at the high school and community college levels. She moved from the Cayman Islands to the United States in 1987 and joined the Prudential Insurance Company. She served for several years as training manager in the Newtown Square Office of Prudential’s Ordinary Agencies. As trainer, she prepared life insurance agents to take the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) examinations; trained life insurance agents in presentation techniques; and accompanied life insurance agents on sales calls to both businesses and individuals in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. From 2003 to 2006, in addition to managing her law practice, Ms. Levy-Tatum taught paralegal studies, including Civil Litigation, Real Property Law, Legal Research, Creditors’ and Debtors’ Rights, and various seminar courses at The PJA School in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. She is presently an adjunct professor at Eastern University, where she teaches Business Law. Ms. Levy-Tatum has provided legal review, opinion and advice on municipal bids and other contracts for the office of the general counsel of American Water Enterprises in Voorhees, New Jersey. She has served as general counsel for the DeBaptiste Organization in West Chester, Pennsylvania and board counsel for Phoenixville Homes in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. She is a notary public of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; member of the zoning hearing board of West Bradford Township; member of the board of directors and treasurer of the River Village II Homeowner’s Association of Shawnee on Delaware; and member of the Chester County Women’s Commission. She has served as an arbitrator in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas since 1999. Ms. Levy-Tatum has had numerous awards and achievements, including Jamaica Scholar (1973), Lincoln Juarez Scholar (1976), Fellow of the Life Underwriter Training Council (1993), Widener Scholar (1994), Redding Fellow (1995), Winner, Judge G. Fred DiBona Moot Court Competition (1995), and Chartered Life Underwriter (1996). In 2007, she was the endorsed Democratic party candidate for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County. She resides in West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and is licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
