2008: Estate of Patrick G. Nunez v. Utica Transit Mix and Supply, Co. Inc. and Charles L. Dreyer Patrick Nunez was traveling in the fast lane on I-75 in Detroit when a trucker driving a fully-loaded gravel truck lost control and collided with plaintiff Nunez' car, killing Nunez. The driver admitted he had received no formal training or supervision from his employer. He also said he failed to inspect the truck's tires and brakes. Additionally, he had a seizure disorder and was on powerful epilepsy medication that causes drowsiness and delayed reaction time. The case settled for $3.9 million.

2008 - Barnes, Carl and Tai v. Cassens Transport Company: A $3.6 million arbitration award from Wayne County Circuit Court for traumatic brain injury and related surgeries. In this case, three plaintiffs suffered mild traumatic brain injury and back, shoulder and carpal tunnel surgeries from a truck accident. The defendant alleged that there was very low vehicle damage and that the injuries had no causal relationship to the accident. The defendant’s offer before the award was $250,000.

2008 - Broeren and Broeren v. Bates: The $5.65 million jury verdict in Macomb County Circuit Court was one of the area's largest awards ever for an automobile accident lawsuit. Client Anthony Broeren was accidentally run over by an acquaintance’s pick-up truck, propelled head-first into a log cabin and then dragged by the truck. Now he is unable to return to competitive employment, due to injuries from the accident including a slight traumatic brain injury and severe leg injuries. The stakes were significantly high in this case, as the defendant had insurance by Chrysler because he was leasing a Chrysler car under the company’s employee lease program. But the defendant’s attorneys were successful in removing Chrysler as a named defendant in the case. Behind the scenes, Chrysler took a low-ball settlement position, contending that “a friend suing another friend” would never get what his injuries were worth, especially in a conservative venue like Macomb County, Michigan. Chrysler’s offer the day before trial was $1 million.

2006 - Norris v. Atsalis Brothers Painting Company: The $9 million settlement was the largest pain & suffering settlement in Michigan in the preceding decade. . The young plaintiff lost both legs in a car accident. His Saturn was split in half when it was rear-ended by an Atsalis Brothers truck.
