About the Attorney:
Jeromye V. Sartain, Patent Attorney
Mr. Sartain is a California and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registered attorney. He received a J.D. with magna cum laude honors and an intellectual property law certificate from Whittier Law School in May 2002 and has over 2-1/2 years experience with a patent law firm before forming his own firm. Prior to law school, Mr. Sartain worked approximately 5 years in the medical device industry, most recently as Engineering and Quality Manager of a small medical device company. Mr. Sartain received a B.S. in mechanical engineering with summa cum laude honors from Christian Brothers University in May 1993.
Mr. Sartain was admitted to the California Bar in December 2002 and was registered as a Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in July 2003. As a clerk and associate of Fulwider Patton Lee & Utecht, LLP in Long Beach, California from May 2000 to December 2002 and now as a solo practitioner, Mr. Sartain has written numerous utility and design patent applications in fields of art ranging from medical devices and sports equipment to computer software and business methods. He has also prepared numerous patent search reports, patentability opinions and infringement opinions and has performed and reported on patent validity studies for prospective licensees and assignees. In addition, Mr. Sartain has extensive experience in conducting federal and state trademark searches and in preparing trademark applications for registration on both the Principal and Supplemental Registers and under the federal Intent-to-Use provisions. Mr. Sartain has also prosecuted international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty and international trademark applications under the Madrid Protocol.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Sartain worked as an engineer in the medical device industry, most recently as Engineering and Quality Manager of Coast Medical, Inc., in Orange, California from November 1995 to July 1999. There, Mr. Sartain was involved with injection molding, assembly, and materials technologies related to patented airway management and respiratory therapy products, as well as managing all engineering and quality functions and overseeing process design, validation, and monitoring per FDA Good Manufacturing Practices. Prior to his employment with Coast Medical, Mr. Sartain worked as a Project Engineer with Bluff City Medical Technologies, Inc., in Memphis, Tennessee from April 1994 to October 1995.
Mr. Sartain is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and all California state courts.
Mr. Sartain is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Orange County Patent Law Association.

Justin G. Sanders, Patent Attorney
In December 2008, Patent Attorney Justin G. Sanders joined the Firm as a full-time associate. Mr. Sanders was admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in October 2006 and was admitted to the California Bar in December 2008. He graduated from Whittier Law School in May 2008, where he received his J.D. with magna cum laude honors as well as an intellectual property law certificate. Prior to law school, Mr. Sanders received a B.S. in computer science, with a minor in human resources management, from California State University, Long Beach in May 2005.
As a Patent Agent prior to being admitted to the California Bar, and now as a Patent Attorney, Mr. Sanders has written numerous utility and design patent applications covering a wide range of technologies including mechanical devices, computer hardware and software, and business methods. In addition to writing patents, Mr. Sanders has extensive experience in preparing patent search reports, patentability opinions, and infringement opinions. Since joining Mind Law Firm, Mr. Sanders has expanded his practice to now include trademarks, copyrights, and other related intellectual property matters.
In addition to the USPTO, Mr. Sanders is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and all California state courts.
Mr. Sanders is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Orange County Patent Law Association, and Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honors Society).
