William E. Betz is a 1983 honors graduate of New York Law School, where he was a member of the New York Law School Law Review. While attending law school Mr. Betz worked as a law clerk with Cravath, Swaine & Moore; in 1983 he became associated with Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York City. In 1987 Mr. Betz opened his own law office, interrupting his practice to work in the law office of Raoul Felder from 1996 to 1997.

In 1999, Mr. Betz accepted a two-year position as Assistant Attorney General in Saipan, U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, where he represented the local government. He returned to practice law in New York in January 2002. He was recently associated for two years with Lifshutz & Lifshutz, P.C., a small New York City law firm, where he was in charge of litigation.

Mr. Betz is the author of "For the Retention of Diversity Jurisdiction," published by the New York State Bar Journal.

He speaks Spanish and French.
