Can my husband file for divorce online?

Question Details:I haven't got anything in the mail or received any phone call about any divorce papers. I want to know what my rights are before signing anything. I'm here in one stae and he lives in another. I already called there and they did a state wide search and didn't find anything about him filing any papers.

Under the laws of all states in this country, one typically files a legal action in person. However, some counties in various states allow for the filing of a complaint via "fax file" where the plaintiff sets up an account with the company that does the fax filing. If you cannot find any dissolution filing online with the local county court house, the chances of a filing for a marital dissolution does not seem likely at the present time based upon what you have written.
