Can a landlord criminally charge you if their property was damaged while you were renting?

Question Details:I recently rented a cabin with 12 of my friends. Holes were made and my friend is worried that he will get criminally charged if he does not pay the damage bill of $2200 when it should not be over a $1000 tops.

You are responsible for the damage.  If it was done intentionally, that is vandalism and a possible criminal charge.  I would offer to pay the fair price to repair and look at his bills.
