How do I take care of a warrant in one state when I live in another?

Question Details:When I was 19 back in 1994, I lived in WA State. My friend was driving my vehicle. On our exit she hit black ice and wrecked the car. We walked to our hotel to call a tow truck but the police were there already. They took me to the police station then took me back to the hotel. I never heard a word about this again until now. I apparently have had 2 warrants issued out against me for these past 18 yrs. And since then have always had a valid state license?

You need to take care of this ASAP.  As you can see warrants do not expire.  Hire an attorney in the immediate area of where the warrant was issued; they will have contacts with the local court that can be of benefit to you.  And it will be far better for you to go in voluntarily.

Technically, you can face penalties for both the failure to appear and the underlying charge.  As a practical matter, often, is is hard for the State to prosecute an old DWI like this because evidence may be lost, the officer may not remember the facts, or the officer may no longer be available to testify against you.

Again, consult with a an attorney; one that specializes in these type cases.  The sooner that you clear this up the better.
