How many times can a court postpone a court date?

Question Details:A person that I know has been in jail for about 4 months but everytime they give a court date they postpone it. This has been the third time. They say they postpone it because they don't have much evidence, what can I do?

You need to have your friend talk to the court appointed attorney about filing a motion to have this matter dismissed (with prejudice) and have he or she released from jail. Ultimately, it will take a criminal defense attorney to help settle this matter.
