How much time do I have to transfer attorneys and follow through with 3 default judgements?

Question Details:My attorney is not returning my calls. His website is down. It has been over 3 weeks now with no callback or email. We filed 3 lawsuits in Federal District court and eventually received default judgments on all 3 of them. 2 will be money judgments representing damages against the convicts who assaulted me. The other is a security issue against a private company in Carson City. All were filed within the statute of limitations. The incident occurred Feb, 2006 in Carson City. How do I transfer my cases to another attorney? How much time do I have?

You can fire your attorney and get a new one anytime you want.  In fact, you can hire your new attorney and then inform your former attorney to send your file over to the new attorney.  There has never been a contract that I have seen between a lawyer and a client that would prevent the client from obtaining a new attorney.  If you already have the default judgments against the defendants, then you should be able to take them to your new lawyer to help you execute on them.  There is the possibility if the default judgments are more than a couple years old that you would have to get them renewed, but that is not likely.
