I need an attorney to help me inquire about my settlement check I never received.

Question Details:I was offered $150,000 from the WCAB back in 10/08, for which I agreed. After the agreement I was waiting for my paperwork. Copier supposedly was broke at the courthouse lobby so I was then told that i would receive my appointment to sign for my money at the attorneys office within 7 days. I haven't received anything, not even a phone call! I am about 99% sure that my attorney has kept my money. Also, my workers comp. Disability checks for the last 9 1/2 yrs. Can someone help me to get my money and get in contact with my attorney? I want him off my case.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  You need to hire a lawyer to contact the insurance company to track down the check they sent.  You can also have the insurance company tell you whether the check cleared and you can find out the account that it was cashed at (i.e. your lawyer that you believe kept the check).  I suggest that you act quickly to get this done. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you can certainly do this yourself.  If the lawyer took the check, you can notify the police and well as the attorney bar committee as they will investigate the lawyer.
