I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  In many states the penalty is punishable with jail time; however, the likely penalty that you will face is a fine and possible loss of license.  I suggest that you hire a lawyer to represent you in this matter as you may be exposed to jail time of at least 6 months.
