If I won a lawsuit but the defendant went bankrupt, should the bankruptcy people contact me?

Never depend on other people to do the right thing.  The defendant's bankruptcy lawyers will not contact you to help you collect money from their client, neither will the court.  Indeed, the defendant's bankruptcy may well have discharged your judgment entirely, meaning you might not have any way to collect the debt now.  You should consult with an attorney in person immediately.
