Is it worth contesting a ticket because the police officer wrote the wrong date?

Question Details:I got pulled over last night for apparently speeding. He cited me for 13 mph over. The problem is he wrote the wrong date in the date section of the ticket. Is it worth contesting because the police officer wrote the wrong date on the ticket?

No, it is not worth contesting it based on those grounds. The judge will indicate it is not a material matter. What is material is whether the radar gun was calibrated timely (you can find out schedules through a right to know request/freedom of information of act). You can also try to go to traffic court and see if you can get it reduced or bite the bullet, pay the fine and see if you qualify for traffic school. http://www.in.gov/judiciary/about/05-casetypes.html
