The sewer company put a sewer station in my yard and it's not mentioned in my property deed, can I collect rent for it?

Question Details:Our property has a sewer station on it. When we bought this place the prior owner had went to court to prevent the sewer company from putting a sewer station on this property. While he was fighting it, he died. They put the sewer station here, but there is nothing on my deed where they purchased it. The lady at the courthouse said there should be something saying they purchased it. The sewer station is in my yard and is not on the city's property. Can I collect rent from the sewer company for it being on my property? The lady at the courthouse said I should contact a lawyer. Do I have a case?

You should absolutely contact a lawyer, who can investigate what happened here;  if you know who (if anyone) was representing the prior owner in that fight, he or she might be a good place to start.

A government or public utility company has the right to put a sewer station where they need it, but they have to pay just compensation for the land that they take for the purpose.  You won't be able to charge rent, but there's a possibility that you might be able to collect that just compensation.
