I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.   Assault and battery of a pregnant woman is very serious as you could have put another life in jeopardy or even killed the baby.  Even though this is a first offense the court could impose some jail time for your conduct regardless of whether the woman presses charges.  I would say that you may be able to qualify for a first time offender program, but you would and should need a lawyer to help you get into this program.  If you do get in, you will not have any jail time and the charges will be dropped upon completion of probation classes.  hire a lawyer as the investment is worth keep your record clean.
