Would I get deported if I got a divorce in the middle of my immigration process?

Question Details:I'm an illegal immigrant in this country; I came here with a visa. A year ago I got married to an American citizen; he is in the army. I started my immigration process a few months ago but now he wants a divorce. I still haven't received any answer from immigration, not a green card, anything.

If your case is pending and you have not had your interview, you are now part of the immigration system. If the case gets denied or withdrawn because of the divorce, it is highly likely that they may begin removal proceedings.

If you get divorced before you get your green card, you will be back in the same position you were in before you started the process--unlawfully present and subject to removal from the US.  You will still be able to try again if you get remarried to another US citizen.
