If prison at fault for suicide, can i sue?

Question Details:My child's father recently committed suicide in jail. The prison he was at was aware of his long history of mental problems/past suicide attempts, and should have been more watchful considering this. This prison also has a nationally known history of inmate neglect. Is it possible to bring some kind of case against them?

If, as you say, your child's father had a history of mental problems of which the prison was aware, and also the prison has had trouble before with prisoner neglect, then you may have a case against them. It would be worthwhile to consult with an attorney, with whom you can share all the details of the situation in confidence.

You and your child have my sympathy.
