For over 35 years, John H. (Jack) Hickey has been trying personal injury and wrongful death cases in the areas of admiralty and maritime, railroad, medical malpractice, product liability, and general liability. For the first 17 years of his career, he represented cruise lines, railroads, and other self-insured Defendants as well as insurance companies. Eighteen years ago, he made the transition to representing plaintiffs. Hickey is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA), and Board Certified as an Admiralty & Maritime Lawyer by The Florida Bar. $3.389 million Friday, May 19, 2006, a jury in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court awarded $3,384,185 to a former cruise ship first officer against Royal Caribbean Cruise Line for claims of negligence and unseaworthiness.

$2.83 million verdict against Carnival Cruise Lines in favor of a woman who slipped and fell on the slippery resin coated floor of the pool deck, requiring six knee surgeries and a possible complete knee replacement.

$2.59 million jury verdict against the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Central Parking for the negligence of a valet driver pinning a pedestrian, a lawyer from Brazil, between cars. $2.5 million received in a maritime law case in Tampa, Florida, to a seaman from Honduras who suffered burns on his hand and arm when a welder in a shipyard lit paint on fire and then spilled it on the seaman.

$1.733 million jury verdict against a Roadhouse Grill restaurant in favor of a woman who injured her hand on a bench, requiring multiple hand surgeries.
