Question Details: I was working at a municipal office when my desk collapsed and fell on my knee. I went to hospital and they said I had a bad contusion. The HR for the company stated I did not need to take a drug and alcohol test but just needed to make sure that my knee was OK. Upon being discharged, I was told that I needed to go back in through the emergency room and get tested. I told HR that I would do it but I was only there part-time and I had to get my kids, so would come back. She told me that because I had to go she would look at the employee handbook and call back. The, 3 days later, she said that I was fired.
